Calor Scottish Community of the Year - Winners Older People 2004

The Council was delighted when its submission to the Scottish Community of the Year awards in 2004 was outright winner in the Older People category.

The submission focussed on the community effort to bring in to being the purpose built Day Care Centre in St Andrew Street demonstrating how local vision and support helped to raise a substantial amount of the funding required.

The awards were made at a ceremony in Edinburgh by HRH Prince Charles Duke of Rothsay seen above presenting the award to CC Chairman Mrs Pat Burton.

The Royal Burgh of North Berwick Community Council, to give it its full title, was created when the old Town Council ceased to exist after the Local Government re-organisation in 1974.
