Mews Cottage

Mews cottage was originally built in 1896 as the coach house and hay loft for the imposing Victorian mansion known at that time as, St. Christopher's (re-named Quarry Court) the summer residence of Colonel Astor and his family in the years up to World War I.  In 2006 the property underwent a major refurbishment which included the addition of a conservatory and decked patio area.  The cottage faces south onto the old stable courtyard which provides a beautifully sheltered and sunny aspect, ideal for sunbathing or for sipping an evening 'sun-downer'.

The house overlooks the world famous West Links of North Berwick, one of Scotland's most challenging and picturesque golf courses, both the lounge and bedroom enjoy views down the 5th fairway and to the sea beyond.  Imagine rolling over in bed to check if the course is quiet enough for a few holes!

Mews Cottage guests can access the golf course and the beach beyond by means of a private gate at the foot of the drive, opening on to the 6th tee.  The totally unspoiled Broad Sands which stretch for nearly a mile towards the island of Fidra are only a minute walk across the golf course, where the high dunes and golden sands are ideal for walks and picnics.

Muirfield, venue of the Open Championship is less than three miles from Mews cottage, as are the splendid new courses at the Archerfield Estate.  There are a further 15 golf courses within a 20 minute drive of the cottage.
